St Joseph' Spirituality and Education Centre is located at Kincumber South, in a natural bushland setting, in a quiet corner of the beautiful Central Coast of NSW. The spacious grounds from the Kincumber Broadwater create an atmosphere of tranquillity and peace that enhances the spiritual and reflective nature of the Centre.

This is a perfect place where people can be recharged, re-energized and spend precious time connecting with each other and nature. St Joseph's offers retreats, conferences and day meetings with on-site accommodation.

Due to a resignation the Centre Director seeks to appoint a skilled and experienced Chef with strong people skills to this permanent part time role heading up the food and beverages service within this unique setting. The Centre has a reputation for the provision of good quality tasty food; all fresh, simple and not too fancy!

Duties will include;

  • Planning, preparing and cooking a variety of meals for groups including Vegetarian, Vegan and other special diets
  • Organising and planning Menus keeping record of special diets
  • Applying a creative approach to presentation of all foods and leftovers working without wastage and on a limited budget
  • Practicing proper Health, Safety and hygiene requirement as per WHS and Food Regulations
  • Keeping Cool Rooms, pantry, cupboards and floor clean and safe at all times
  • Ensuring all Kitchen washing is taken to Laundry and collected before and after each shift and all items returned to cupboards and drawers at the end of each shift
  • Clean and tidy kitchen equipment, utensils and benches including sweeping & mopping throughout at the conclusion of each shift
  • Effective and efficient food labelling and storage
  • Staff supervision ensuring clear instructions to staff
  • Stocktaking and processing reports
  • Communicating with suppliers for the purpose of monitoring supplies including procurement of urgent requirements and incidentals

Required skills & experience include;

  1. Previous hands-on experience managing a commercial kitchen
  2. Supervisory experience
  3. Suitably qualified including Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  4. Flexibility to work hours that cater for the needs of the Centre including weekends and evenings as required
  5. A basic level of computer literacy
  6. Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
  7. Appreciation of & preparedness to uphold Christian values

This person will be covered by the Federal Hospitality Industry (General) Award 2010 working a 60 hour fortnight across Monday to Sunday as required. This role will be remunerated at Level 6 which is an hourly rate of $28.16 Monday-Friday, $35.20 Saturday and $45.05 on Sundays.
